5.0 out of 5 stars Great tool that does it's job without much babysitting. October 14, 2009

By E. Weber

Amazon Verified Purchase

Was skeptical, as I usually am, but this tool lives up to its name.
Have installed alot of 3/4" 2-1/4" plank oak flooring with it so far, have had 1 misfire. Instructions say to not hit it too hard, but I found that it takes a good solid whack to get it to fire completely. Once you do that, it's a breeze. Always seats where it's supposed to, and fires the nails to the right depth. Too light a whack will not sink the nails.
It's really solidly built and balanced really nicely.
One drawback, I wish I could check magazine level without opening it up, but it's not too bad. It makes a hollower sound when you're dry firing.

Product Description

Pneumatic Flooring Nailer for installing hardwood floors between 1/2 - 3/4 inches thick. Used by many contractors and DIY floor installers this tool works well for all skill levels. The sturdy long handle allows for great control and keeps you from breaking your back. The nail magazine holds 100 floor nails, and nail length can vary between 1 1/2" to 2" depending on what you need. The air inlet is standard 1/4". Air consumption is low at 4.5 CFM and allows you to use a small compressor. Input pressure should be controlled between 60 and 100 PSI. With a little practice this tool will allow you to lay hundreds of square feet per day. Depending on the type of wood you will need to vary the input pressure. Bamboo is very hard and brittle and requires a low pressure to prevent damage. Teak and some other very dense hard woods will require 100 PSI. You should test on a piece of scrap plank to make sure you are getting good results. The pneumatic flooring nailer is used by placing it on the edge of a piece of hardwood flooring. The included mallet is then used to strike the actuator and fire the nail in. The most difficult part of the process is just moving the pneumatic flooring nailer around. Include in the kit is a Carrying Case, Pneumatic Flooring Nailer , Safety Glasses, Air Tool Oil, Base Plate, S3 Hex Key S4 Hex Key S5 Hex Key Wrench, and Instruction Manual.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Nailer July 7, 2011

By Mary and Dan

I bought this tool to put in 900sq feet of strip oak flooring. After putting 400sq, I must say I'm very happy with my purchase. It comes with a nice case, hammer, safety glasses and face/blind nailing attachments. When you do a job (any job) the tools you use can make or break the project. Using this nailer has been a pure utter joy. This is a no brainier. The cleat sits on the sub floor and against the tongue. A simple tap on the trigger and slam-BAM done!

nice July 8, 2011

By J. Lipton

This was my first attempt at installing hardwood floors. Purchasing a nail gun was a top priority. The market is limited but the few nailers out there all come with high marks. I chose this particular model based upon the few excellent reviews on this forum. The gun sits easily and quickly each time. The different types of nails/staples/ cleats receive their own praise. This Hard Core nailer is a tough find and I have not been able to find anyone that stocks it, other than Sterlingtek on Amazon. The gun has worked flawlessly, and comes in a complete package. Just tapping the gun is enough, no need to slam. Works great each time and have installed about 1000 sq feet without a single problem. Great purchase and was jumping for joy at the price, it was a lot cheaper then the ones at our local Home Depo or renting one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Siding Contractor November 12, 2009

i have to tell everyone i can about how good these guns are. i have been installing siding, triming houses, and framing for 20 years and have always been a hitachi and makita guy, but since i've started using these guns i have no reason to buy them again. i have been forced to branch off into other areas like roofing and interior trim. I've bought several of their guns and i have had zero problems with them. great service, quick shipments, and a very dependable product. Freeman deserves a bid kudo for bringing a great product to us at a price everyone can afford.

Great product for the price March 21, 2011

I bought this product to build a large deck. I'm very pleased with the performance. Weight/balance is good. Worked well with a variety of nail sizes (2 3/8, 3, 3 1/2, straight and ring shank). My only compliant is that the gun stops working when the gun gets low on nails (3-4 nails) due to the nails losing alignment. It's not a big deal since it works fine once you load more nail strips. However, it was frustrating diagnose the condition the first time.

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm never picking up a hammer again! August 19, 2010

By Jason Peacock

I giggled the first time I used this, it drives nails with such ease - as if the wood was butter.
It's great for metal fasteners and tight spaces, it gets into all the small corners where neither a full size nail gun nor a hammer would fit.
The small size is a perfect fit for my (large) hand, and squeezes into smaller places than the larger model palm nailer.
The magnet holds the nails well so you can drive them with one hand, just press and the nail is quickly hammered (vibrated?) into place.
You can stop early and leave the nail head up if you're just tacking things, or come back later and finish the nail flush.

5.0 out of 5 stars suprisingly good. May 17, 2010

I had read the reviews so i went ahead and purchased this for about 35.00 shipped. I got it in the mail and opened it up.The case seemed very cheap. Now i pull out the nailer, It seems like WEN didnt pay much attention to the details. Some of the paint looked touched up, the trigger was just a piece of metal and some of the other pieces of the gun looked of questionable quality. This doesnt look even close to the beautiful, yellow, quality DeWalt that my buddy loans me.So nervously i hook it up and put in a stack of 1 3/4" nails, they loaded nicely. I test the gun on a 2x4.I tap a couple in and the nails go so deep i thought it misfired. So i turn the little depth wheel under the tip,(which feels kind of cheap but actually works better than the dewalt) and tap a couple more till perfect. I start laying some base board and the gun has a very smooth and solid yet lighweight feel to it. Not one misfire. Also the gun doesnt jump around. and the tip looks like it would destroy the board but actually did very well. I finished the kitchen and hallway and am very impressed with the gun. I have used a DeWalt to baseboard and trim two entire houses, and comparing the two I actually think the WEN performs better. I have only shot a couple of hundred nails out of the WEN so I will have to see how it holds up. but for 35.00 I could buy a few of these at the cost of the others. It's even starting to look prettier than the DeWalt.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worked flawlessly for me July 23, 2010

By Jeff

Amazon Verified Purchase

I used this stapler to put down ~400ft^2 of engineered hickory flooring. It was easy enough to setup. The adjustable cleat has lots of degrees of freedom, but once I set it up, it never moved or required any adjustment throughout the job. I like that the safety won't engage when the clip is empty preventing dry-fires. The drive depth was consistent from start to finish. I have an adjustable regulator on the hose end and once I dialed it in, I never had to touch it even after starting/stopping over multiple evenings. Though the magnesium makes it light, it still feels solid and well built. I'm happy with my purchase.

4.0 out of 5 stars Bostitch EHF1838K November 5, 2011

By K. Wanamaker

I'm about halfway done putting down a 225 sq.ft. Bruce 5/16" thick oak floor. The only problem I had was when I first started the job, it wouldn't fire sometimes. I loosened the yellow thumb screws and re-adjusted the base, the gun worked perfect from that point on. The key to this stapler is to make sure the metal safety with the 2 curved hooks on the end is pushed all the way up when in position or else the gun won't fire. I'm not sure what the purpose of the safety button on the side is for, the gun still fires in either position. Also my gun still fires even when out of staples, not sure why. Otherwise I like the tool, very light and comfortable to use. It uses either 7/32" or 1/4" 18 ga. crown staples. I'm using a 1" long staple with 80-85 PSI.
