Super Fast, Amazingly Quiet July 13, 2010

By Teach1985

Just replaced a schoolpro sharpener with this new Bostitch item. Have always been a fan of their staplers, so decided to give this a try. The first thing that really stood out was how quiet it was compared to the schoolpro model. I can actually let the kids sharpen during a lesson without disturbing the class. The sharpening speed is also far superior. I still have the shcoolpro in the classroom, but the kids all prefer the Bostitch due to how fast it is. Another great feature is the magnetic safety switch which gives me added peace of mind when letting the kids sharpen their own pencils.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bostitch FLN200 2" Flooring Cleat March 3, 2006

By Wayne Armitage

The 2" cleats were great floor nailing down the bamboo flooring the we had. We could not be happier. We had no problem with the cleats going in straight and feeding throught the nailer. The porter Cable nailer is also an awesome piece of equipment. I would reconmend it to all. The price of the cleats was very fair and reasonable.

This is by far the best price I have seen for these nails. I did have to return the first shipment because it wasn't packaged properly and the nail strips were all broke apart, but they paid for return postage and shipped a new box out right away.

It's about time.
I've been looking and waiting for a durable, waterproof toolbox for years. I bought the Stanley and so far so good. It feels tough, bits won't poke through it and you can sit on it at lunch time. It's currently holding three drills, two batteries, charger, and an assortment of smaller boxes holding bits and drivers - plenty of room.
When is the rest of this industry going to get a clue?

This is a well engineered toolbox by Stanley. The case is substantial and holds a lot of gear. There's a water-resistant gasket that keeps out moisture and dirt. The latches are large and secure -- with options for a pad lock. It takes quite a bit of force to open/close the latches, but I prefer this to looser types. The internal removable tray is great for a level, hammer, and various hand tools -- it's about two-thirds the length of the tool box, leaving room adjacent for larger items. Loaded up with my tools, it's pretty heavy. The handle seems sturdy -- and I believe it will hold up to daily use.

    Amazon.com Product Description

Today’s homes are stronger than ever. More knowledgeable homeowners, natural disasters, and stricter building codes have led the industry to adopt better ways of building houses. One important result of this has been the massive rise in the use of metal connectors. These metal connectors, whether it is in the form of a hurricane tie, joist hanger, or stud plate tie are used to strengthen the weaker joint areas of a home. Their popularity has given rise to a new necessity on the jobsite, the nailer to attach all of these metal connectors.

The Bostitch STRAPSHOT Metal Connector Nailer (MCN-150) is the perfect tool for all types of metal connectors. Its exposed nail tip places the fastener point directly into connector holes for a faster, more precise application. It has a built in safety that prevents the tool from firing when not placed properly into the connector hole. The Bostitch STRAPSHOT Metal Connector Nailer (MCN-150) drives 1-1/2-inch, 35 degree Paper Tape Metal Connector Nails to secure any type of metal connector plate. These nails come specially hardened to ensure that if there is a misfire it can still drive through the metal connector plate safely.

One of the features that set the Bostitch STRAPSHOT Metal Connector Nailer (MCN-150) apart from similar nailers is its size. Its compact design fits easily into hard to reach spaces including 12 inches on center studs (MCN150 only 10-1/2 inches tall). The tool is up to 50% lighter than competitive models for reduced fatigue and added maneuverability. The in line magazine also helps maneuverability by fitting into corners easily. Its low nail lockout feature prevents jams by preventing cycling with less than 5 nails for added safety. The tool also comes with hardened steel wear guards to protect the tool and adjustable exhaust to conveniently direct air away from the user. Finally, Bostitch has included a carrying case and our exclusive 7-Year Limited Warranty.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love It!, June 12, 2006

    (VINE VOICE)

I had been using an N88RH-2MCN for my metal connector work. As you know, the 2MCN is a standard framing nailer with a locator tip. While it works fine, it's big and heavy and doesn't always fit between joists and in tight places. The MCN150 solves that problem. It's small & light comparable to a 15ga nailer, almost half the weight of the 2MCN and it fits into tight spaces more easily. The MCN150 does not use a locator tip, but rather uses the exposed nail tip to guide you into the hole. I've had it now for about 3 months and ran several thousand nails through it without incident. I would highly recomend this tool if you do frequent metal connector work. Just remember that all metal connectors do not call for 1 1/2" nails. For longer nails, you need another gun. It comes in a nice plastic fitted case.

This review is from: Stanley Bostitch MCN-150 StrapShot Metal Connector Nailer (Tools & Home Improvement)

I've had the Bostitch MCN-150 for just about a year now. In that time it has paid for itself two or three times over. One house, with lots of straps and hangers and one deck rebuild with a couple hundred joist hangers is all it took. This tool can do in an hour what it would take a person all day to do by hand. And it saves your fingers in the process. Anyone who has tried to set tico nails in tight spaces knows what I mean. I really can't stress the time savings enough. The size of this gun is great, you can get into some amazingly tight spots and because of the innovative tip design, you can shoot at less than ideal angles.
That being said: There are two cons to this tool. It only holds small clips of nails (24, i think) so you are constantly reloading, but even with a clip of 50 you would be reloading often because of the speed that you can shoot. When nailing off long Simpson type straps, you really notice this. The other con is the fact that you can only shoot 1.5" nails. Which is a bummer here in California, where longer nails are often required. But apparently they now have the MCN-250 which addresses both of these issues. I will be ordering one of those also.
I have also used the Hitachi NR65AK, which is good, but I really think the Bostitch is better and for the price of the Hitachi you could order both Bostitch models and still be in the same ballpark.
One last thing. You can use other companies nails in a pinch. The manual stressed using only Bostitch Nails, but I was forced to use Senco at one point. They work OK but jam in the track occasionally due to burs on the nails. But they'll get you through.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent! May 15, 2010

By John B. Goode TOP 500 REVIEWER

This is the only kind of cutting knife I'll use. They're convenient and sharp. I use them for craft projects and cutting paper. They're easy to get a new sharp point, just snap off the blade along the precut edges and you'll get a new blade right away. They're so cheap that I have a bunch of them at every work station. They are much easier to use than the old type cutting knife. Highly recommended!
